Burlesque Beginnings is a class for the aspiring performer looking to get involved in the glamorous and comedic world of Burlesque! An open level 9-week Burlesque Dance Progressive, where you will learn a group choreography piece (costume included), and receive private solo instruction, all resulting in a live stage performance! You will participate in a photo shoot, receive headshots and photos/video from the live show. Clare Voyeur and Velvet Cream will educate you on a variety of topics encompassing the Burlesque Industry, such as Costuming, Act Development, Hair & Makeup and how to pursue work as a performer. This course is an opportunity to showcase your creative expression and connect to community. Save your spot today! ​​

Our Story
Clare Voyeur and Velvet Cream met in 2011 at the very beginning of their foray into the Burlesque world. Both seeking an outlet for their creativity they found Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society and graduated together from the introductory program “Becoming Burlesque”. They went on to be members of the troupe and worked together until Velvet Cream’s departure to pursue full time Dance and Yoga Instruction. Clare remained with the troupe for many years while pursuing a career in Costume Design and Burlesque Show Production. Once reunited, they realized they were both seeking the next step in their careers as artists and dancers. With a mutual love for the art form and desire to share their knowledge, they created Burlesque Beginnings. Clare and Velvet’s complementary skill sets and experience in the Burlesque Industry will provide a well-rounded education for program participants. They wish to acknowledge the impactful role that Screaming Chicken played in both their introductions to Burlesque and each other, their values about the art form today, and the personal impact its teachers made on them. Clare and Velvet are excited to bring you a program that showcases all they have to offer while expanding the community within the art form.
About Velvet Cream
Velvet Cream is a local Dance and Certified Yoga Instructor. A dynamic and talented individual, Velvet taught a total of 276 classes in 2023. Her dedication to teaching movement in various forms, from dance to yoga, to individuals of all ages, demonstrates a deep passion for helping others discover the joy of physical expression. Her approach of intuitively understanding how each student learns best shows a commitment to personalized instruction and ensuring everyone feels supported and empowered in their journey. Velvet, under the guise of a different name, performed alongside the original local Burlesque greats and even competed at the Burlesque Hall of fame in 2012. Velvet's background in Burlesque Performance, showcased her ability to blend sensuality, creativity, and comedy in her artistry. Returning to the stage after a hiatus has been an exhilarating experience, and it is evident that Velvet’s performances are not only entertaining but also deeply expressive and captivating. With her vibrant energy and unconditional encouragement, Velvet is undoubtedly making a significant impact on her students and audience alike, fostering a space where self-expression and exploration thrive.

About Clare Voyeur
Clare voyeur is a Burlesque business lady on all fronts. She has been performing since 2011 and producing sold out shows since 2018. Clare is an educated Costume Designer who runs sewing classes and designs costumes for other performers within the industry. She is known for her ability to transform into different characters on stage, and for her unique perspective for performance, and Burlesque show concepts. Her main source of inspiration on stage and in life is comedy. Obsessed with all things Burlesque, Clare is excited to share the wealth of knowledge she has from working in the industry. She's all about having fun and exploring creativity.
